The On The Point Hospitality Hub is located at the heart of Point Fraser, and features a selection of award-winning restaurants, nightlife, and waterfront entertainment. This prime location provides an exceptional opportunity to savour the stunning swan-city views while indulging in delectable cuisine or sunset drinks. Whether you seek a laid-back bar meal or a more refined dining experience, On The Point offers an enticing array of options, ensuring a satisfying culinary experience for every taste.
Situated on the banks of the Swan River, Point Fraser is a hidden gem crafted in a modern landscape bordering the city, at the eastern end of Riverside (Birdiya) Drive. Named after the botanist Sir Charles Fraser, who explored the Swan River in 1827, this scenic location offers a blend of history and natural beauty. Its indigenous name, Boodjargabbeelup, translates to "the place of river, water, and land.” The name extends back for many generations, if not centuries, and it is deeply rooted in the traditional language and lore of the area.
Nestled among the gum trees, this idyllic spot offers winding pathways, perfect for enjoying the serene riverside and city views. A favourite for walkers, exercise lovers, tourists, and families with various inviting natural enclaves for human connection with the environment.
This innovative and sustainable development preserves the Swan River wetlands, cleanses the river, and connects the city to the river's edge. Interpretive signage along boardwalks and trails informs tourists about the location's history, biodiversity, and cultural significance.
Rent bikes or canoes and explore the area or let the kids enjoy the new nature-play playground. This is an ideal landscape for observing local wildlife, including pelicans, black swans, and river dolphins. Avid bird enthusiasts may also catch sight of Red-tailed Black Cockatoos, Fairy Terns, Bar-tailed Godwit, Eastern Curlew, Great Knot, Banded Stilt, Pacific Australian White Ibis, and Yellow-billed Spoonbill.
Just a short walk across the Causeway Bridge from Point Fraser, Heirisson Island sits in the river's centre. Known to the Nyoongar as Matagarup, meaning 'leg deep', it lends its name to the nearby pedestrian bridge. Here, kangaroos roam freely less than 1km from Perth City, providing a unique wildlife experience. It's also a prime spot for sunrise views over the city.
No matter if you moor up at the jetty on a private boat, arrive by ferry, car, or the number 24 bus, be sure to explore Perth's premier waterfront entertainment destination!
